You once said: “A no pants day is the best kind of day.” You sat on the couch and watched TV and didn’t care for progress or success. You didn’t cringe at your cravings. You respected rest and believed that time was there for the wasting because you didn’t think it was fleeting.

When you were divine. When you basked in the white light of the sunshine, mingled with the blue light of the TV screen. Godlike in your self-assurance and wise beyond your small number of years.

When you were a spark, destined to burn and unable to keep still. The girl with an unbendable iron will. You thought you could promise me you’d never grow up. When you told me with such certainty, I defied the logic my brain screamed at me. I gave into your sanctity, and I believed you.

I believed you, but I lost you anyway and losing you almost killed me too, and missing you hurts more than any scab or bruise. What I would give to talk to you! To go back. God, I hope I get to see you soon.

Until I do, rest easy sweet girl. Rest easy.
