【by Maria Korman】

A pink shrimp lies on its bed of rice
Wondering petulantly where its blanket is,
While nearby a potato reclines on its porcelain wall
Sharing its space with a quiet piece of meat that’s been
roasted into oblivion,
and suffering a small but painful existential crisis,
wondering why it’s not a yam,
and badly in need of spud counseling.
